What is Dashboard?
The dashboard meant the speedometer in front of the driver's seat of the car or plane and the 'instrument panel' indicating information needed to drive, such as engine speed, speed, and remaining gasoline.
In BI(Business Intelligence) field, Dashboard is an information management and data visualization solution that used to analyze data. Dashboard Developer can show overall snap shot of data by using interactive elements like a variety of charts, graphs, reports.
Purpose of Dashboard
Dashboard is a vital element in BI strategy of an organization.
To improve business decisions, It must be designed to analyze data from key data sets for specific purposes.
Instead of Analysts manually collecting spreadsheets, The recent BI solution can allow users to access, analyze, share data through web-based dashboards.
Stakeholders can build and review dashboards, draw conclusions, and act with powerful, automated business intelligence tools.
My Dashboard
I've made pretty much dashboards throught some projects.
I often made the dashboard at the time with sample data or fake data again.
I thought more efficient way to develop and I have time to be proficient in developing or data modeling through re-implements. And I also thought the purpose of each dashboard.
These time and experiences are my assets as a data analyst, and I think they will be basis for my future growth.
Good Dashboard
When I became a dashboard developer in my third year, I think a lot about what a good dashboard is.
What is a good dashboard for readers?
Is it a dashboard with various functions? Or is it a pretty design dashboard? Or is it a dashboard with fast performance? I think there is not certain answer. They are all right. They I mentioned above are all elements for good dashboard. I really got request related with elements above from my clients.
I think that it is good dashboard that meets data accuracy. No matter how excellent elements I mentioned are, It can not be good dashboard if dashboard could not be accurate.
I think a question above is related with a purpose of dashboard. The main purpose of using corporate dashboards is to use them for business decision-making and to increase efficiency in business operations.
In that way, a dashboard that doesn't meet accuracy means that it provides wrong information, it is a dashboard taht does not have essential functionality, and it will eventually become a dashboard that end users do not see.
As I worked on the project, I thought that the process of data preprocessing, modeling, and verification was more important than applying various functions, pretty design, and fast performance.
This doesn't mean that the application of different functions, pretty design, and fast performance aren't important. These elements must also be necessary to make a good dashboard, and they must be taken care of to improve it continuously.
To meet the requirements of a good dashboard, data accuracy is the top priority, I think. After meeting data accuracy, we need to improve and improve performance, functionality, and design so that it can be reborn as a better dashboard.
